چکیده

In this work, the hot forging behavior of a dual phase stainless steel in temperature range 850–1250 °C was investigated. The study revealed occurrence significant cracking phenomenon for processing temperatures below 950 that attributed to combined effect intermetallic precipitation and severe deformation. EBSD examination highlighted continuous dynamic recrystallization both ferrite austenite microstructures above 1050 °C. Increasing 1250 increased low angle grain boundaries fraction lowered one high boundaries. This accompanied by gradual change crystallographic texture material. mechanical investigation showed plasticity, sharply dropped after at 850°, gradually recovered 1050°C. confirmed nanoindentation measurements remarkable increase hardness Young’s modulus 850°C 950°C due dislocation nucleation ? ?/? interface. enhancement movement vicinity 1050–1250 improved global properties forged steel.

Investigation of Grain Flow Microstructure in Forged Nitronic 50 Stainless Steel

Samples were sectioned with observation surface parallel to the normal of the short transverse direction (ST) that were removed from Block B as shown in Figures 1 and 2. A sample was polished and then etched with Agua Regia. The sample was then analyzed in a Leica MEF4M metallograph to observe microstructure and then analyzed in a Zeiss 1540 XB Field Emission Gun Scanning Electron Microscope (F...

Improvement of Mechanical Properties and Work-Hardening Behavior of Intercritically Annealed Dual Phase Steel

The effect of the initial microstructure and intercritical annealing on mechanical properties and work-hardening response of a high-formability low carbon steel were studied. The work-hardening analysis was based on the modified Crussard–Jaoul method. The ferritic-pearlitic sheets showed low strength and high total elongation with the appearance of the yield point phenomenon. The occurrence of ...

Effect of Thermomechanical Processing on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Duplex Stainless Steel

Duplex stainless steels (DSSS) have a microstructure composed of ferrite and austenite phases that gives them a very good combination of mechanical and corrosion properties. These steels are desirable for many applications in the chemical and petrochemical industries. In the present study, a type of stainless steel was cast, solution annealed at 1200°C for 60 min and then quenched in water. Ini...

Hot Deformation Behavior of 17-7 PH Stainless Steel

To investigate the hot deformation behavior of 17-7 PH stainless steel, hot compression tests were carried out at the temperatures of 950, 1050 and 1150 oC and strain rates of 0.001 s-1 to 0.1 s-1. Accordingly, the hot working behavior was studied by the analyses of flow stress curves, work hardening rate versus stress curves, exponent- type constitutive equations and deformed microstructures. ...

Heat treatment and mechanical properties of low-carbon steel with dual-phase microstructure

Purpose: The aim of the paper is to design heat treatment conditions of dual-phase steel and to determine their influence on the structure and mechanical properties of steel. Design/methodology/approach: The heat treatment of the C-Mn steel in order to obtain a dual-phase ferritic – martensitic structure of desirable phase fractions was realized. To investigate the influence of heat treatment p...
